I would like to share with you some iPhone photos I took of the PVC backdrop stand I made for my newborn photography. I found some ideas after I did some research online. I wanted something light because I’m a mobile photographer, plus I needed it to be cheap. I was also looking for something where I can pull the fabric tight on the frame to make editing easier and produce better quality photos.
What you would need:
PVC pipe ~ you need to take the measurements of your beanbag and and about 20cm to each measurement.
4 x Bend connectors
2 x ‘T’ pipe connectors
4 x 3 way connectors. Unfortunately I really struggled to find these. So you might have to buy them online. I did a search, but so far only found then sold in the US.
Let’s start with my elaborate ‘plan’. Mind blowing stuff right? ;)

I couldn’t find 3 way connectors, so I had to make my own. I would not recommend this because it can mess up your calculations. I had to re-cut some bits. I used a hot glue gun for these. But if you are a good diy-er, you will figure it out :)
Update: I have found another way to do it without make a three way connector. Next time!

All the pipes cut. I cut these with a normal small hand saw.

Putting it together. I did not clue the pieces together so that I can take it apart for easy transport.

My stand, posing beanbag and fabric backdrop.

Pull back of the stand set up at a client’s house.

Henning Ras - Great work!!, I see it can also be used for product photography when you use a white or black sheet for jewellery or shiny objects.
Maybe I must place an order for me……
